Response 4: Cloudy with a Chance of Boredom

I spend 70% of my life talking to a blank screen. Sure you see green, blue, symbols and dramatic weather patterns coming in from the east. I see a blank screen. Even when I showcase some lovely photos from our viewers, I see nothing. No sunset over York Minster, no flock of sheep on the Dales...I see and point at a white screen. Blank, anonymous and boring...this wall really sums up the life of a weatherman.

I’d like to be sat on the couch presenting the day’s news. I’d like to be out and about interviewing people. I’ll take ranting Yorkshire folk, I’ll take battered grannies or local fetes. I’ll be a reporter, I’ll be a news man, I’ll be the new Harry Gration but with better dress sense. For now though, it’s weather time. It is going to be cloudy with occasional rain. Chilly north easterly winds in Scarborough.

  1. Great idea, it's easy to think of weathermen/women as leading glamorous lives - not stuck in front of a blank screen in a studio.
