Response 1: Flight Fright

It was going so well. I’d booked the flight and I’d even packed my suitcase two weeks before. Still part of me was thinking- should I stay? I got on the plane with my usual reluctance.  As we took off I gripped the seat, my knuckles white but the air hostess still looked a glowing orange colour which I felt reassuring. We were finally up in the air and I could breathe a sigh of relief.  That was until I felt a violent jerk, as I looked up no one seemed to have noticed, I put it down to my imagination working overtime and the white wine spritzers I’d had previously.  The air hostess calm smile had turned to a blank gaze as she returned from the cockpit. Clearing her throat she stuttered, “Stay calm, and don’t panic, we have an emergency. Does anyone know how to fly a plane?”

  1. I think this experience would terrorise even the most nonchalant flyer!
