Response 6: GNARLY DUDE

I can still feel the smack of the tarmac. Truly epic fall apparently. I’m told ‘wipeout’ doesn’t quite cover it. I’ll look at the tapes. I must learn to take that corner better. More control, less speed. Nah, speed was fine…

Looking down at my leg, I see the blood and bruising. No bone thankfully. That familiar sting returns. I wipe the blood away but the red remains. I’ve done this enough times to know what’s coming. The blood vessels are popping, bleaching my skin a strong red. In 24 hours, my devilish tone will give way to 30 shades of purple. Hemoglobin doing its natural thing I’m told. In a few days my leg will be popping with nice yellows and greens. I’m all the colours of the rainbow dude!

Yet the bruises will fade and I’ll be back on the hill. Once more into the breach my friend.

A lovely insight into the mindset of a fearless individual. The vividly described injury suggests the author writes from experience. A good entry.
