Response 4: Festival without a view
After all the traffic, the queues, the stress of carrying 4 crates of Strongbow across a field, I am here. After tripping over every guide rope, accidentally kicking a sleeping hippy in the head, turning down some poppers, I am here.
After struggling with a tent I’ve not seen in 12 months, clearing up last year’s mud and opening my first drink, I feel relaxed. After finding my friends, reading the NME to check out the bill and sinking my second drink, I feel relaxed.
After fighting the crowds to get to the front, not worrying whether that last drop of moisture on my cheek was beer or piss and hearing the opening chord of my favorite band, I feel alive. After realising the water is an impending rainstorm and feeling the crowd around me shuffling, I feel…really annoyed as a throng of umbrellas spring up and block my view.
