Response 4: Hero of our time

It’s nearly here, the comet on a collision course with earth.
We’ve known about it for years, but nothing’s been done, after all – we trust in him.
Millions take to the streets, longing to praise him as we are saved once more.
There had been talk of taking action, like in that crap film with Ben Affleck – but what’s the point?
He has saved us too many times to count, nuclear fallouts, earthquakes, the list goes on.
Odd that he hasn’t already been spotted, he usually loves the dramatic pre event glory.  Maybe this will be another last minute saving – always a showman!
Small chunks make land fall in Asia.
We look expectedly towards the sky, waving our flags.
Doubt flits through my mind, but he has saved us too many times to count….

Oh no
Where is he?

  1. Suspense, religion, a global catastrophe - all the ingredients you need for a good yarn. Reminds me of the classic one liner "In God we trust. Everyone else pays cash".
