“What’s the matter with you, too chicken?!”
Rob and Mikey taunted. Would it be that bad? Two minutes on the train track? Life would be easier if I didn’t constantly try to impress but my longing to fit in had the best of me.
I stumbled onto the track with baited breath; it seemed more daunting up close, and eerie in a way, a place that’s not meant to be explored. “Go on, further along, my gran could go further than that” Mikey snarled.
As I stood solitaire on the track I felt a sense of achievement, a kind of buzz. But a noise from the distance alerted me, reality staring me in the face. Headlights blinded me as the train raced towards me, I stood frozen with fear. An impact jolted me to the side of the track; just in the nick of time Mikey had saved my life.
