I’ll never forget that day in class when the teacher asked us “If you could have one super power what would it be?”. The majority of the class said to be able to fly. Some wanted to be invisible and some even wanted to turn everything into sweets. Not me, my super power was something almost everyone already had, the power to walk and run! I remember all the children laughing at me. From that day on I promised myself I would achieve whatever I wanted.
As I stand on this podium, the stadiums roaring with cheers all for me as I’m wearing my gold medal with pride, for the first time in my life I feel accepted and proud of myself!
“1st place, gold medal Paralympic champion 2012 of the 100metre sprint!”.
I didn’t need any super powers to achieve my dreams, I just had to believe in myself.
