Mary gripped her dad’s hand, with a mixture of fear and excitement she felt at this time of year. Struggling to see as the crowd gathered her dad lifted Mary onto his shoulders. Mary looked around the crowd for her brother’s familiar face. “Dad, where’s Jack, I’ve not seen him all afternoon?”
The crowd cheered with elation as the bonfire was set up in smoke.
