Response 4: A Brother's love

My name is Michael-John and today I face death by the electric chair for the homicide of 16 year old Casey Smith in 1999. I have served 10 years on death row in Alabama state prison…
My brothers face that day remained a picture in my mind ever since, Billy-ray, he was younger than I was, he had autism but he was a good boy, we was all each other had when our momma passed away, I’d do anything for my little brother, that’s why the day he came home with blood on his hands I knew what I had to do…
He begged me to believe he found young Casey in the woods and tried to save her life, I’ll never know the truth but I knew billy could not go down for this.
I promised him I’ll take this secret to my grave, and that’s what I did.

  1. A tragic story. You have to admire Michael-John's sense of self-sacrifice.
