Response 4: Slap dash Jim

Jim earned his nickname back in his school days. Always cutting corners and taking shortcuts was Jim. He bought stolen exam papers that saw him through college. He tracked down, slept with and manipulated his future boss into hiring him.

It was no surprise that after brief forays working for different companies ‘chasing the dream’ he now found himself in New Zealand, about as far away as he could get from anyone who knew him and his past.

…is what he dubbed his new company. He couldn’t be bothered thinking up something snazzier. A quick eBay search yielded some second-hand bungee equipment and here he was, stood on a bridge 100 feet over a river with a queue of excited adrenaline junkies.

“One last time?” he called down to his latest dangling customer.

Nobody noticed the frayed cord that ended Jim’s latest venture, certainly not Jim.

  1. The winner!
Great idea for a story here, with a good use of the 150 words.
I never expected that ending when I first started to read it either.
    Well done!!
