When I was 5, I was the best doctor in town. I had a certificate from my dad and I owned my own stethoscope. I was the real deal.
Lisa was my sister’s friend and was a princess pop star nurse. I didn’t know what one of them was (still don’t) but I welcomed her help in the field surgery.
Lisa told me about a game she played in her hospital. It was called “show me yours and I’ll show you mine” and required me to take off my clothes. I thought she was silly and went inside to tell my mum…
Looking back, I am relieved Lisa still talked to me after that day. We remained friends throughout childhood, through college and up to getting married 20 years later. We also got plenty of opportunities to play “show me yours and I’ll show you mine” again throughout those years.
