Response 2: Take Me Away

She needed to escape. She ran into her father’s office and locked the door. The leather-bound books, odd scientific instruments, mysterious orbs and a desk covered in handwritten theory; the room baffled as much as it intrigued. It was a room usually out of bounds for the young Eleanor but this was an emergency.

Grabbing a glowing paperweight she crouched near the window. She saw shadows outside the house, heard footsteps on the grass and felt a face above her. They’d found her.

She gripped the paperweight tight. “Take me away. Take me away from here!” Her mantra made the orb glow brighter and suddenly she felt the sun on her face. She sat, eyes blinking in the light. The room was the same but she had moved. She looked outside the window. It was no longer dark and she was somewhere new. She had… no the house had moved.

  1. I see what you did there... the actual house moved. Interesting. But what happens next? Is she safe now? I hope so.
